Tonight was a very challanging night for the final six Idol hopefulls, they had to rise to the challaneg of the compeition and sing theatrical medleys from the songbook of legendary composer Sir Andrew Lloys Webber.

Although some stuggled, they still had grace and managed to do a decent job overall.

However three truly stood out, with one by leaps and bounds.

Here are my top three of this week, a critique along with corresponding video footage courtsey of FOX and American Idol 7.

Carly Smithson changes her original song,’All I Ask Of You’ from Phantom Of The Opera with a suggestion from Andrew Lloyd Webber, and performs ‘Superstar’ from the ALW and Tim Rice classic-Jesus Christ Superstar.
The judges loved her performance and Simon said it was his favourite performance of the night.WTG Carly.

This video starts off with the results between Carly and Jason. Jason is safe and Carly faces elimination with Syesha in the bottom two. Then Carly performs Superstar from the production Jesus Christ Superstar. And then the video goes into the results between Syesha and Carly, ending in Carly’s elimination and then Carly’s American Idol last look video and ends with some words from Simon.

Supposedly because there is such a big fan base this season in American Idol not being eliminated depends entirely on popularity and not what the show is suppose to be about…PERFORMANCE. Although every single person has talent and I am not putting any of them down based on performance Carly wasn’t suppose to have gone home. But she’ll probably get record labels at her doorstep by tomorrow. No biggie!
