Now I know why they …
Now I know why they used this song as a three-way elimination song for CBC’s “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?” Because not only were they trying to ‘piggy back’ on the popularity it had on American Idol just 2 months before, but to get JCS fans to watch the show!

i think that the show conspired against the people who weren’t born in America this season because Michael went home too early and he was from Aussie and this wasn’t Carly’s time to go either…

    Yeah, I think Carly …
Yeah, I think Carly was trying to start big and make it high energy. The fact she didn’t collapse at that pace surprise the heck out of me. lol.

She started at an 8 or 9, so by the climax the 10 didn’t seem so grand. If she would’ve been a little more subdued at the beginning and built up over the first couple of minutes it would’ve rocked much more.

    Jesus Christ …
Jesus Christ Superstar is NOT a spoof. It is merely a moderen interprutation of the life of Jesus Christ. Reimagination of stories for shows is a broadway staple–ie West Side Story/Romeo and Juliet and using modern songs and microphones in Spring Awakening set in 1891. FYI at the time the Norman Jewison film of Jesus Christ Superstar came out, the pope at the time said it was the greatest film ever based on the life of Jesus Christ-do your research before you make such close-minded comments.

    Great song, great …
Great song, great vocal, great performance. Do I know that Superstar from JCS is (or was a lifetime ago) a controversial song from a controversial stage show? Yes, I’m old enough to have lived through it. Do I think Carly should ignore the advice of a genius like Andrew Lloyd Webber and perform a song unsuited for her in deference to some group of moralists that might be lurking to vote for the opposition in protest? Not a freaking chance. Carly Smithson did exactly what she should have.

  20. jlbnny Says:

    Why do you think …
Why do you think this is a Catholic song? It is religous but spoofs on the organized religions both Catolic non catholi. Most church goers think it should have been banned in the 70s when it was a huge hit. Wake up people!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. CAEBProductions Says:

    i think she got …
i think she got voted off since it’s a catholic song, which is really retarded. It’s one of the best American Idol performances ever, and to get kicked off for religion is retarded
